    Scope of Position:

    • Provides mechanical design and technical support to engineers involved in the design, development and testing of industrial machinery and mechanical components.
    • Assist engineers with the design of mechanical equipment components using both AutoCAD or Solidworks software.
    • Updates and revises existing equipment drawings and documentation.
    • Supports equipment debug, start-up and installations.
    • Produces equipment and process documentation (spare parts lists, SOP's, machine specifications, etc.).
    • Procures material and process equipment using Corning Incorporated approved processes.

    Day to Day Responsibilities:

    • Modifies design layouts of mechanical systems and subsystems using computer aided design under the direction of an engineer (2D/3D).
    • Modifies and revises assembly and detail drawings of robot tooling, machine components and associated equipment.
    • Assist with the preparation of documentation packages (drawings and written materials).
    • Compiles Spare Parts Lists based on vendor or engineer recommendations
    • Assists engineers with specifications for commercially available material handling equipment and systems.
    • Supports project teams with estimates, tracks and reports costs, and project timelines.
    • Assists in preparing of training materials and training of plant/customer personnel
    • Demonstrates effective communication of technical ideas through the use of graphic, written and oral media.
    • Confers with vendors in the final selection of commercial components and writes purchase requisitions.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Minimum of a 2 year technical degree (Mechanical technology, CAD, etc.)
    • 0 - 4 years of relevant experience
    • Familiarity with Solidworks or AutoCAD
    • Ability to work in a team-based environment and to contribute to a highly matrixed project team
    • Understands and values working in a diverse environment
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities through sound planning and organizing
    • Ability to select standard mechanical parts from a vendor catalog or by contacting the vendor

    Desired Skills:

    • Technical curiosity
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Knowledge of ANSI drawing standards
    • Ability to work independently to complete drafting and design tasks
    • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
    • Willingness to provide hands on support with fabrication, testing, and experimentation in a lab or manufacturing environment

    Travel Requirements:

    • 20-30%, Project/plant locations and vendor sites

    The range for this position is $55, $76,842.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
