ACP is proud to offer a summer internship program which runs for
approximately 8 weeks from Tuesday, June 16 – Thursday, August 6, 2026
. These positions are required to work on
a hybrid office schedule out of our Washington, DC headquarters
and, as such, applicants must be local to the DC area or able to relocate to DC for the 8-week period. Internships are paid
$20/hour on a semi-monthly pay schedule
.

Position Overview
ACP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented student to join us this summer as an IT Intern. This role provides direct experience supporting helpdesk operations, IT infrastructure, and ongoing technology initiatives that support ACP staff and operations.

The intern will work closely with members of the IT team, assisting with user support, troubleshooting, documentation, and system-related tasks while gaining exposure to enterprise IT systems and environments within a mission-driven organization.

• Support helpdesk operations by responding to user inquiries via phone, email, and in-person ticketing systems.
• Assist with troubleshooting and resolving basic hardware, software, and network issues.
• Document issues, solutions, and procedures, and escalate more complex matters to senior IT staff as appropriate.
• Support IT infrastructure tasks, including user account setup, access management, and equipment deployment.
• Assist with updating and maintaining IT equipment, systems, and software.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with colleagues on day-to-day IT support and ongoing initiatives.
• Support additional IT projects and tasks as needed to meet team priorities.

Summer Project & Professional Development
Over the course of the summer, the intern will support day-to-day IT operations while also contributing to a defined project or focus area that provides practical experience and skill development. The scope of this work will be refined during the first week of the internship based on team priorities and the intern's interests.

Through this work, the intern will have the opportunity to:

• Develop a foundational understanding of how enterprise IT functions support staff productivity and organizational operations
• Gain hands-on experience supporting IT service delivery, systems, and infrastructure
• Balance operational support with project-based work and longer-term initiatives
• Build professional skills such as prioritization, documentation, communication, and problem-solving
• Gain exposure to potential career paths within information technology

Qualifications
Required:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate, pursuing coursework in computer science, information technology, or a related field
• Strong interest in information technology and learning how IT supports organizational operations
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Preferred (but Not Required)

• Enrollment in an IT training program or completion of relevant coursework
• CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar certifications
• Familiarity with Microsoft Windows (10/11) and Office 365 applications
• Prior experience providing technical support in an academic, volunteer, or internship setting

Job Conditions
ACP operates in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with an ambitious agenda and a highly motivated staff. Interns will be supported by their manager and team as they learn and contribute to work with real deadlines and priorities.

This role may involve working across multiple tasks and adapting to shifting timelines with guidance. Occasional travel or event-related work outside standard business hours may be available depending on team needs.
