    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Fall & Winter Head Cheer Coach

    Direct Supervisor:

    Athletic Director & Building Principal

    Position: Fall & Winter Head Cheer Coach

    Location: Secondary School

    Supervises: Students and Assistant Coaches

    Position Description: To help participating students achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship, with an increased level of self-esteem. To oversee the specific sport program in observance of all WIAA and Kittitas SD policies and regulations in the best interest of all student participants. To improve all Kittitas SD athletic programs.

    Essential Job Functions:
    1. Secures facilities through the athletic office to ensure a safe practice environment for students.
    2. Plans and communicates to Athletic Director practice session strategies which ensure the health and physical well-being of student participants.
    3. Develops, communicates and maintains a regular schedule of in-service practices.
    4. Maintains current equipment / uniform inventory and annually recommends purchase of such to the Athletic Director.
    5. Manages all fundraisers, deposits, distribution of funds related to sport specific student activity accounts.
    6. Provides for the orderly distribution and collection of uniforms and equipment.
    7. Assures that all student participants are in compliance with WIAA requirements including current athletic physical, Code of Conduct, fees paid, and is academically eligible, prior to practice, tryouts, and competitions.
    8. Models and instills the values of sportsmanship and fair play to all participants, enforces consequences for breach of such standards.
    9. Monitors proper supervision of students at practices, games, locker rooms, and on school provided transportation.
    10. Assists in the selection and evaluation of assistant coaches. (As applicable)
    11. Conducts a mandatory preseason parent meeting
    12. Maintains individual and team records and statistics.
    13. Plans and implements a seasonal awards recognition program through the Athletic Office.
    14. Engages in personal professional development activities.
    15. Implements programmatic instruction of sequential fundamentals and proper conditioning for all levels of the program.
    16. Attend at least one professional development workshop and Booster Club meeting.
    17. Provide and annually update program goals and expectations.
    18. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or Building Principal.
    Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Athletic Director in accordance with provisions of the approved Coaches Evaluation Form.

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following conditions:

    • Significant: (i.e., sitting, talking, hearing, walking, vision, color vision, peripheral/depth perception, ability to adjust focus, grasping, handling paperwork, repetitive motion, use of personal computer, looking at a computer monitor, lifting up to 10 pounds)

    • Frequent: (i.e., standing, bending, carrying; use of phone; use of copy machine)

    • Occasional: (i.e., driving, lifting over 10 pounds up to 45 pounds, reaching above the shoulder, use of fax machine)

    Significant - Occupation requires this activity more than 66% of time (5.5+ hrs/day)

    Frequent - Occupation requires this activity from 33% to 66% of time (2.5 to 5.5+ hrs/day)

    Occasional - Occupation requires this activity up to 33% of time (0 to 2.5+ hrs/day)
