This position is part of the Defense Media Activity, Defense Media Activity. The incumbent will be responsible for providing news, information, and entertainment to U.S. forces worldwide in order to promote and sustain unit and individual readiness, quality of life, and moral.

Duties

This position is being filled under the memorandum from the Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness (USD(P&R)) "Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense," dated June 23,2023.

As a Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC) at the GS some of your typical work assignments may include:

• Ensures IT Security for a Department of Defense training institution.
• Make decisions on implementation and operations of cyber tools.
• Have expert cybersecurity knowledge in network or application design, operating systems, endpoint protection, mobile devices, and foundational cybersecurity technical controls.
• Maintains knowledge of all aspects of cybersecurity and compliance, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST and JFHQ-DODIN requirements and best practices.
• Provides leadership and mentoring to less-experienced team members.
• Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems from intentional or inadvertent access.
• Utilizes knowledge in ESS/HBSS (McAfee ePO), ACAS (Tenable Security Center, Nessus, Nessus Manager, and Nessus Network Monitor), Enterprise Logging, and SIEM.
