    Duties



    Responsible for the acquisition and evaluation of existing facilities, vacant properties, surplus or excess facilities and other available sites.

    Contacts and coordinates with all levels of Federal, state and local governments in the exercise of surveying and identifying properties of FPS use.

    Conducts public and makes presentations often to non-receptive, uncooperative audiences. Meets with the general public and officials of the community to explain programs, goals, and plans of the FPS.

    Does research for and prepares environmental studies including environmental impact statements and environmental assessments. Recommends and carries out public relations strategies to encourage public support for correctional facilities.

    Responsible for assisting with the development of policy, providing advice, guidance, training or evaluation for programs in field institutions.
