    SUMMARY:

    Technical and documentation support for Microbiology lab.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Includes but not limited to the following.

    • Logs on incoming samples of raw materials, in-process materials and finished products in logbook and e-files.
    • Prepares test samples for microbiological analyses utilizing aseptic techniques. Prepares and sterilizes standard microbiological cultural media.
    • Accurately documents and maintains necessary paper and electronic data records.
    • Maintains proper labeling, handling and storage of microbiological supplies, media, and reagents.
    • Maintains proper labeling, handling, and storage of microbiological retain samples.
    • Operates general laboratory equipment such as an autoclave, pipet machine, incubator, analytical scales etc.
    • Housekeeping duties as assigned to maintain.
    • Maintains proper labeling, handling, storage, and disposal of microbiological waste. ∙ Manages time and tasks efficiently.
    • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

    Association degree (AA) in a scientific discipline from community or four-year college; High School diploma with two/three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, procedures, and manuals. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from departmental manager/supervisor or other employees.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to apply basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division as well as percentage determination.
