Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a SC or compact RN license and pediatric cardiac ICU expertise.

Responsibilities
Work in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (
CVPICU) in a hospital setting
Care for pediatric patients with cardiac surgical and medical diagnoses, including congenital heart disease
Handle procedures such as cardiac surgery, ventricular assist devices (VAD), heart transplants, cardiac catheterizations, ECMO/CRRT, and complex supportive therapies
Average daily census is 26 with 1:1 or 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratios based on patient acuity
Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00pm – 7:30am), including 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period and holiday rotation
Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required
Uses EPIC charting system
Participate in the care of critically ill pediatric cardiac patients including those with complex surgical and medical needs
Unit is recognized with a 'Gold' Beacon Award and is a leading center for pediatric cardiac care in the state
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with registered nurses, patient care technicians, unit secretaries, and ancillary services such as respiratory therapy, dietitians, and pharmacists
All beds are monitored and require advanced cardiac and ventilatory support skills
Previous perm staff and PRN must be separated from the MUSC system for at least 1 year before being eligible to return as a traveler
Candidates living within a 60-mile radius are considered local and will be compensated at a local rate
Block scheduling may be accommodated at manager discretion
Modules must be completed prior to start; allow approximately 4 hours for pre-start module completion
Restrictions apply to time off requests; all RTO must be provided during initial consideration
Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
This unit does not accept travel nursing pairs

Requirements
Active SC or compact (multi-state) RN license; must be in hand or proof of application/walk-through process required
Minimum 2 years of pediatric cardiac ICU nursing experience
Pediatric cardiovascular (CV) and pediatric ICU experience required
Ventricular assist device (VAD) experience highly preferred
Current AHA BLS and PALS certifications required
ACLS certification preferred (AHA only)
First-time travelers accepted
Must provide SSN and driver's license for consideration
