    Description

    Our client, a non-profit with a dedicated and neutral mission, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their organization in Washington DC. As a Staff Accountant in this organization, you will play a crucial role in driving the accounts payable/AP process, credit card management, monthly close and more

    Staff/AP Accountant Responsibilities:

    • Conduct weekly review of all invoices and check requests to ensure accuracy, proper substantiation documents, and relevant authorization.
    • Verify appropriate accounting codes, programs, and grants for each transaction.
    • Address and resolve any discrepancies found in invoices promptly.
    • Communicate with vendors and employees to respond to inquiries and resolve issues.
    • Maintain comprehensive records related to accounts payable and ensure accurate filing.
    • Process corporate credit card transactions monthly, ensuring submission of necessary substantiation documents and adherence to expense policies.
    • Reconcile credit card expenses and prepare journal entries for accurate recording.
    • Perform monthly analysis and reconciliation of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other designated accounts.
    • Issue invoices for accounts receivable as necessary.
    • Validate consultant payments against contract schedules for accuracy.
    • Prepare 1099 forms and assist with year-end closing activities.
    • Provide support to the team during month-end, year-end closing processes, Form 990 filing, and audit activities as required.

    Staff/AP Accountant Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting.
    • 2+ years of experience performing full-cycle accounting.
    • Understanding of GAAP.
    • Familiarity using accounting software, such as Microsoft Dynamics or QuickBooks.
    • Non-profit experience = major plus.
    • Payroll processing and tax experience = major plus.
