- Installs water meters
- Makes water main taps
- Flags traffic at work sites
- Repairs leaks and plumbs lines as needed
- Maintains water meters, installs meter boxes, and checks water pressure at meters.
- Installs and maintains fire hydrants; inspects and flushes fire hydrants.
- Operates equipment including but not limited to: gas-powered saws, asphalt and cement cutters, trenching/boring machines, backhoes, jackhammers, etc.
- Removes and replaces sod, plants, bushes; cuts trees and roots as needed.
- Maintains equipment, checks oil and tires, changes buckets on backhoes.
- Maintains inventory of tools, parts, and equipment.
- Responds to after-hours emergencies.
- Hand delivers Boil Water Advisories and rescind notices.
- May be required to temporarily act as Crew Chief.
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Traffic control Flagging certification
- Knowledge of water system distribution installation, repair and maintenance procedures.
- Knowledge of the location of water mains, valves, fire hydrants, and services.
- Knowledge of city policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of job-related safety hazards and precautionary methods.
- Skill in the operation and maintenance of assigned vehicles and equipment to include heavy and light equipment.
- Skill in repair and maintenance of the water distribution system.

Essential Job Functions
High School diploma or GED equivalent; one (1) year of related maintenance experience necessary.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
May require the following certifications/licenses:
Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; andverification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
