    Nurse Manager-- Outpatient Endoscopy Center

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Plans, organizes and directs all aspects of nursing services in the Endoscopy center.

    REPORTS TO: Director, Physicians

    TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Involves standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires working under stressful conditions or working flexible hours. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.

    TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequently exposed to communicable diseases, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to an endoscopy suite. Contact with staff, patients, and the public

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned)

    • Consults with Medical Director concerning administrative concerns
    • Manages nursing services in accordance with office, governmental, and other regulatory standards.
    • Provides direction for development, supervision, and evaluation of nursing service personnel.
    • Functions as prep nurse, recovery nurse and endoscopy nurse, as required.
    • Serves as a member of the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Committee, compiles QAPI data and is responsible for QAPI compliance in the department.
    • Ensures environmental and electrical safety procedures are followed.
    • Assures infection control procedures are followed by staff utilizing Universal
    • Maintains supply of clinical and office supplies and equipment as needed for the
    • Facilitates repair and/or replacement of equipment as needed Recommends departmental polices and procedures.
    • Updates and maintains nursing procedural manual.
    • Oversees nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance and restoration of patient's health and wellness
    • Provides and/or supervises patient care needed
    • Designs work schedules, hours, and duty assignments.
    • Assesses staffing patterns
    • Reviews scheduling of patients for procedures.
    • Assists in selection, training/orientation
    • Performance evaluations
    • Develops and conducts nursing educational programs for staff.
    • Maintains departmental correspondence, compiles statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
    • Maintains documentation of nursing staff credentials and health service records.
    • Maintains patient and employee confidentiality.
    • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Attends conferences and workshops.
    • Performs related work as required.

    PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Knowledge of management and organizational theory to supervise the operation of the center. Knowledge of principles and practices of employee development to train, delegate, mentor staff. Knowledge of medical safety practices and standard requirements to evaluate existing standards and implement new procedures. Ability to apply or modify principles, methods, techniques of professional nursing. Problem solving skills. Ability to anticipate and react calmly to emergency situations. Skill in writing reports, responding to correspondence. Ability to develop and maintain Quality Assurance activities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and direct the work of staff. Ability to communicate clearly.

    EDUCATIION: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

    EXPERIENCE: Two years experience as a registered nurse, GI Endoscopy experience required, and supervisory experience.

    LICENSE/CERTIFICATE: Possession of a Pennsylvania Registered Nursing License. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate.

    ALTERNATE TO MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: None
