    Day Shift: 7am-3:30pm, Night shift:11pm-7am
    Schedule Notes: 100% Onsite. 8 hr shifts,3 months with potential for extension.


    DUTIES:
    JOB PURPOSE1. Customer Servicea. Utilizes innovative approaches to improve service delivery.b. Prepares for and processes new admissions to the unit.

    • Coordinates admission of Category 1/Priority patients.
    • Assembles charts and patient name cards.
    • Stamps patient forms with imprinter as necessary.b. Processes discharge and transfer paperwork.
    • Photocopies all necessary chart documents for transfers.
    • Disassembles charts upon discharge of patient and logs out charts completely and accurately.
    • Performs accurate manual patient discharge documentation when there is computer downtime.
    • Notifies Pathology and Admissions regarding autopsies.
    • Returns charts to charge nurse as needed for completion of PCS scores and charge sheets.
    • Distributes logged-out charts to appropriate department/files.c. Performs receptionist duties.
    • Answers telephones in a timely and courteous manner; transfers calls; records messages; refers calls appropriately per telephone etiquette policy and procedures.
    • Utilizes intercom system appropriately to route calls.
    • Responds immediately to emergencies by contacting appropriate personnel in a calm and efficient manner.
    • Maintains availability of unit reference information for easy access and prompt response to inquiries.
    • Screens parents and visitors per unit policy; appropriately refers visitors to charge nurse.
    • Informs and instructs visitors in visitation policies

    Skills:
    Experience:0 - 6 months experience required months experience preferred

    Skills & Abilities:
    Able to deal with public using Guest Relations approach.
    Knowledge of medical terminology.
    Computer knowledge.
    Strong verbal communication skills.
    Ability to work as part of a team.
    Ability to work independently, problem solve and prioritize demands.


    Physical Requirements:
    In good physical condition to meet the demands of an active position, including extensive walking, moderate sitting, standing, stooping and lifting

    Education:
    High School degree or equivalent.
    Post high school vocations or specialized training preferred.
