- Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors, determines the nature of business, and tactfully refers calls to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist with receipt and distribution of incoming mail for the agency.
- Maintain and create file systems, both paper and electronic, and be able to retrieve documents as needed.
- Communicates with court reporters and external customers to schedule telephone conference and in-person and video hearings.
- Initiates inquiries regarding case processing and responds to appeal inquiries on behalf of the Administrative Judge (AJ) of the office.
- At the direction of the Supervisory Paralegal Specialist to respond to the public, appellants, and their representatives, concerning potential, pending and past appeals and general Board procedures.
- The contractor must have a minimum of 2-4 years' experience in the administrative field or in a related legal assistant area. Must have very basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the legal field.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to read and follow directions.
- Experience interacting with the public.
- Skilled with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good organizational skills.

Job DescriptionWe are currently looking for a General Clerk I for a temporary support contract position with the Merit Systems Protection Borad (MSPB) located in Arlington, VA. This is initially for a 5-month contract with an option to extend for 6 additional months. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and be able to clear an extensive background check / clearance investigation by MSPB.
