    This position will travel between Westlake, Mayfield Heights and Downtown and is part time at 16 hours per week.

    Essential Functions
    • Assists healthcare providers in the ambulatory setting.
    • Obtain patient past and present ocular and general medical history.
    • Perform visual acuity.
    • Perform diagnostic testing under the supervision of physicians and techs. These tests include visual field testing, refractometry, keratometry, topography, pachymetry, and intraocular pressure check.
    • Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment.
    • Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other customers.
    • Provides age specific care to patients from toddlers through elderly .
    • Provide other patient services and education as requested by the physicians.

    Qualifications:
    QualificationsEducation
    • High School Equivalent / GED Required
    Work Experience
    • 1+ years work experience in an Ophthalmic Practice. Required
    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Basic understanding of contact lens usage. Required
    • Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships. Required
    • Ability to work independently in a high stress environment. Required
    • Use of diagnostic and patient care equipment and general office equipment, including telephone, pager, and fax machines. Required
    • Basic computer skills. Required
    Licenses and Certifications
    • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) through CMEs Required and
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Required and
    • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Required
    Additional Licenses and Certifications
    • Completion of a 1year Certified Ophthalmic Assistant program or completion of JCAHPO Home Study and 1 year work experience in a similar field. Required
