    Job Description

    The Biotherapeutics and Genetic Medicine Group at AbbVie Bioresearch Center in Worcester, MA is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the rAAV technologies cell culture group. The position is focused on AAV manufacturing, both at small and intermediate scales. The candidate will work collaboratively with our therapeutic area teams to advance AbbVies rAAV pipeline. The ideal candidate will have biotechnology experience in rAAV production. He/she/they will be responsible for assisting with the development and execution of AAV upstream to support research and preclinical studies.

    Key Responsibilities Include:

  • rAAV production using a wide variety of culture environments, including fixed bed bioreactors, adherent cell culture.

  • Maintain cell stocks and cell cultures.

  • DoE to optimize rAAV production.

  • Maintain a high level of productivity in the team with clear daily, detailed, and accurate documentation of experiments and development of protocols.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to meet project goals, and advance novel vectors into pipeline.

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders inside and outside ABC.

  • Present science, plans and data updates to project teams.

  • Author technical reports and protocols

  • Understand and enforce company culture, teamwork, safety, appropriate handling of materials in a BSL2 environment.
    Qualifications
    Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent education with typically 3-5 years of experience, or Masters Degree or equivalent education with typically 0-2 years of experience.

  • Proficient in rAAV production using mammalian cell culture.

  • Experience with adherent and/or suspension cell culture.

  • Experience with ELISA, ddpcr and other analytical methods is a plus.

  • Experience with Design of Experiment (DoE).

  • Ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative and dynamic environment.

  • Self-motivated with excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task. Strong organizational, planning and trouble-shooting skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong scientific curiosity with a passion for problem-solving and optimization
