    Job Title: Metering & Apparatus Manager

    Department: Engineering

    Reports to: Director of Engineering

    Position Type: Exempt (Grade 13)

    Supervises: Meter Technician I & II

    Effective: May 2024


    Purpose of Position:

    To ensure delivery of safe and reliable electricity to members, businesses, and industry. To provide Metering, SCADA, Apparatus, and AMI services and/or assistance to employees and members related to safety, power outages/restoration, and power quality issues during regular business hours and after hours.

    Qualifications:
    • Associate degree in electrical technology or related field with 7 years of experience; OR relative experience.
    • High school diploma or GED.
    Essential Functions:
    • Manage and maintain supervisory control & data acquisition hardware developments and installations including but not limited to substation rebuilds, breaker replacements, operation applications, reporting, and operational enhancements.
    • Responsible for the training and coordination of procedures and policies directed specifically to the Metering & Apparatus departments as needed.
    • Provides technical support on power quality issues to cooperative employees and members.
    • Performs various management functions associated with departmental leadership including budget preparation, information dissemination, team safety meetings, coordination, etc.
    • Direct the testing, repair, replacement, and maintenance of all metering & apparatus equipment.
    • Oversee PSC required field instrument transformer inspections and testing.
    • Install and maintain substation AMI equipment.
    • Train and develop employees in all aspects of metering & apparatus technology.
    • Procure and maintain a stock of meters, parts, and other associated equipment.
    • Maintain records relating to installation and analyze survey data.
    • Knowledge and performance of public service commission rules and regulations.
    • Preparation of the departmental monthly meter report and annual budget proposal.
    • Assist engineering with field surveys in sectionalizing and balancing substation circuits.
    • Assist engineering with programming, testing, & commissioning all cooperative apparatus equipment.
    • Analyze, troubleshoot, and develop recommended solutions for power quality problems.
    • Install and maintain load survey equipment.
    • Perform inspections as needed on all equipment.
    • Assist in restoring service during power outages as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
