    Internship Program Qualifications:

  • Current student:

  • You must be currently enrolled in a university undergraduate or graduate degree program in the U.S with a graduation date of December 2024 or later
  • Able to intern from June 2023 through early September weeks)

  • Authorization:

  • You must be legally authorized to work in the US during the Summer 2024 program
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for our internship positions, but we welcome applicants on a student visa (with authorization to work in the U.S.) to apply

  • Location:

  • Located within the San Francisco Bay Area or willing to relocate during the internship. Relocation assistance will be provided for students who will need to relocate for the summer.
  • Able to work 40 hours per week (full-time) in a hybrid work model with a minimum of 3 days in office for in person collaboration with our team

    About the role:

    Our cybersecurity internship is designed to provide exposure to a variety of security tasks that one should expect as a junior or entry-level security analyst. This Security Engineer internship will provide you the opportunity to solve Sigma's critical security and data protection related challenges. You will be part of a growing team in cyber resilience, incident response, and technical implementation activities. As a generalist, you will have the opportunity to work in many facets of Cybersecurity, Application Security, Privacy and Compliance projects.

    During your internship your responsibilities will include:

  • Participation in security design reviews, conducting research, design and documentation associated with proper controls and remediation to protect information and systems
  • Determine the technical and business impact and the likelihood of identified security issues and provide remediation guidance to stakeholders
  • Through a rotation with our broader Security team, you will probe deeply into specific Cyber domains like Application Security, Pentesting, Security Operations, Cloud Infrastructure Security, Risk & Compliance
  • Collaborate with the Security teams by scoping and delivering a capstone project in a specific research area
  • Monitoring and triaging alerts/vulnerabilities from our other Cloud security monitoring systems. Responsible for the cyberthreat detection and vulnerability management automation efforts for Cloud and Product Engineering
  • Helping support security oversight efforts as part of a compliance program
  • Collaborate to review, exploit and triage Pentester findings and also work on internal Pentest Program
  • Build automations to establish an effective Security Program

    What we're looking for:

  • Applicants must be pursuing at least a Bachelor's or a Master's degree in Cyber Security, Cyber Assurance, Computer Science or a related field.
  • Introductory knowledge of security concepts: AV, Firewall, SIEM, Threat and Vulnerability Scanning, Cloud and Information Security Patterns, and Experience with one or more Cloud Infrastructure providers (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Familiar with security testing techniques such as network discovery, port and service identification, vulnerability scanning, network sniffing, fuzzing, penetration testing, configuration reviews, firewalls, social engineering, and password cracking.
  • Strong understanding and passion for Security Engineering skills
  • Have a drive and desire to navigate unknowns, after all, that's what unlocks realizations
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
