Job Summary:
The Consumer Loan Underwriter provides underwriting of new consumer loans.

The function includes the review of a member's loan request and review of all supporting documentation used for the underwriting of the loan for accurate decisions in accordance with credit union policies and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Evaluate consumer loan requests. Obtain and analyze credit reports and acceptable credit information.
Verify credit information when necessary. Determine debt to income ratio, unsecured ratio, collateral valuation and general loan quality.
Review all supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance of the loan application.
Decision loan applications promptly to ensure regulation requirements are adhered to.
Decision loan requests within lending authority as described in the Board Policy Manual.
Provide service excellence to members and co-workers.
Identify "2nd Approval" opportunities and document same in loan notes.
Assist the Credit Union in meeting loan volume, delinquency, and charge off targets.
Promote loan products and maintain knowledge of existing or pending loan promotions.
Complete all assigned annual compliance training and stay updated on all underwriting regulations.
Meet individual production goals as set by the Underwriting Supervisor
