My Client of Sumter is a supplier of electrical power distribution products to the US Navy and Coast Guard and has been in business in business for thirty years. CPS designs, manufactures and tests military grade marine switchboards, control panels and motor controllers for service in combatant ships. We have an immediate need for an electrical design engineer, preferably with some PLC programming experience to join the team. We currently utilizes Siemens PLC's and GE RX3i Controllers w/HPCI software. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified candidate to perform in a small business environment, using acquired skills and experience to put his/her stamp on products that contribute to the defense of our country.
Newly Graduated Engineers Encouraged to Apply as well as those with 3-5 years experience
Client is located in Sumter, SC
Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
Experience with various HMI hardware developing custom multi screen applications
Experience with various communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, CANbus both serial and Ethernet based- Preferred
Familiar with communication structures using managed switches and fiber optic ring configurations
Ability to interface with customers on various subjects including troubleshooting support & progress updates
Familiar with low and medium voltage switchgear including design principles and associated hardware including: automatic voltage regulators, electronic governors, protection relays, auto synchronizers
Understanding obsolescence replacement and design
Able to read and design to various requirement specs including: MIL, ABS, ANSI and IEEE requirements
Familiar with equipment qualification to MIL and IEC standards including shock, vibration and EMI qualification
Strong technical writing skills. Support proposal team with development of technical proposals for new contracts
Proficiency with Microsoft programs, AutoCAD and Solidworks experience a plus.
Field service at times required for troubleshooting and project support or installation. Travel time varies. About three times per year,
PE (Professional Engineer) designation a huge plus.
Job Qualifications:
Project management, managing various projects using Microsoft Project schedules. Tracking progress and milestones and interfacing with both suppliers and sub contractors on various projects.
Interface with potential new customers regarding new proposals, providing technical support. Travel to potential customer sites once or twice a year to drum up business.
Support Production staff as needed with questions and problems building and testing equipment
Provide proposal support including scheduling, labor and timeline estimates
Support the hiring process of both the engineering team and QA/electrical technicians
Provide Engineering inputs and support of in process Production items including implementation of design changes, availability of required drawings, documentation submittals supporting various projects
