    Job Overview

    The Director of IT - Merchandising & Financial position is responsible for all aspects of software support, development, planning and operational execution for Cavender's Merchandising and Financial systems. This position's day to day responsibilities will include developing and managing project plans, defining business functional and technical requirements, providing functional oversight of the execution team for development of Merchandising, Planning, Pricing, Financial and Inventory applications and processes, partnering with the IT Architecture and leadership as well as business stakeholders in strategic direction and planning.

    This position will require demonstrated experience managing multiple system projects concurrently, including implementations, system upgrades and annual events, where coordination of IT activities across the enterprise is critical to success. The role will require experience with management and development of direct reports, maintenance of matrix relationships, managing on-site third-party resources, and providing technical guidance and functional oversite to Vendor partners and offshore resources.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Support the "Cavender's Culture" and drive the Mission, Vision and Values
    • Serve as a strategic partner and key leadership resource to the company
    • Create the strategic roadmap for the IT Team to be positioned to meet current and future needs of the organization
    • Practice cost-effective approach and lead company IT Team to deliver company financial goals and objectives
    • Coordinate all operations for the Merchandise, Planning, Financials and ERP systems, as well as integrations to other related systems
    • Develop strategic and tactical roadmaps of capability and function with executive leader(s) in Merchandising and Financial teams
    • Lead management of business project portfolio as well as take on project leadership responsibilities when needed
    • Develop resource plans including budgetary needs to meet the development, testing and implementation of deliverables needed to achieve the Merchandising team strategic projects and day to day support
    • Serve as Subject Matter expert for the purpose of providing High Level designs of solutions needed to meet customer requests for enhancements, customizations and functionality while also working with outsourced partners for the production of detailed Low Level designs and code delivery from the 3rd party development partner
    • Work with Systems Administrator and VP of IT on changes and additions for existing hardware, as well as requests for new or added hardware necessary to support and enhance computer equipment, peripherals, store networks and Wide Area Networks; and aid in the determination of when to fix and when to replace equipment
    • Deliver timely, concise communication to end users concerning outstanding and resolved technical issues
    • Maintain subject matter expertise level understanding of all merchandising and financial software; producing short and long term road maps for upgrade schedules, potential competitive software platforms as necessary
    • Coordinate work with relevant IT partners to determine when new releases, patches, etc. should be installed
    • Coordinate testing environment(s) design, maintenance and support schedules for Merchandising and Financial systems
    • Work with Systems Administrator to keep adequate backup procedures and logs for all software and data at home office level
    • Oversee the organization, data integrity, and documentation maintenance for all technical-related issues
    • Maintain a high awareness of new developments and enhancements for current systems, as well as developments in the industry
    • Oversee communications to departments concerning outstanding and resolved operational issues
    • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the VP of IT
    Qualifications and Requirements
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • 8+ years of proven experience in with retail or retail-related technology and processes
    • Retail systems (i.e., merchandise, planning, financials, WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), BI (Business Intelligence), CRM (Customer Relationship Management), E-commerce and ERP) implementation and/or support experience necessary
    • Solid understanding of privacy and PCI regulations
    • 3+ years leading an IT Team
    • Based in Tyler, TX at our home office; East Texas area residence
    • Some limited travel, up to 5%
