About the Role
We are a fast-growing robotics startup building real-world autonomous systems. We are seeking a motivated
Part-Time Robotics Software Engineer
with a specialized focus on
Control Theory and Path Planning
. In this role, you will help transition our autonomy stacks from prototype to production-ready systems, working alongside experienced engineers to develop high-performance algorithms for robots operating in complex, dynamic environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Control Systems:
Design, implement, and tune Model Predictive Controllers (MPC) and other advanced control techniques. - Motion Planning:
Develop and optimize path-planning algorithms for autonomous navigation in real-world scenarios. - Software Engineering:
Write and maintain robust, high-quality code in C/C++ and Python. - ROS II Integration:
Build, integrate, and debug specialized nodes and packages within the ROS II framework. - Testing & Validation:
Create automation scripts for simulation and participate in hands-on onsite field testing in the Southeast Michigan area. - Performance Optimization:
Debug and improve system reliability and real-time performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education:
Master's degree in Robotics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field. - Experience:
0–3+ years of experience in robotics software development. - Technical Skills:
Deep understanding of Model Predictive Control (MPC) and motion planning theories. - Proven proficiency in ROS II (required).
- Strong coding skills in C/C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with perception models and machine learning methods.
- Location:
Ability to work onsite in Ann Arbor MI for hardware integration and field testing. - Legal:
