    Packaging Engineer Position at our Company


    Location: Remote, Chicago, IL/Midwest or Central, PA preferred

    Travel: Up to 75%

    Job Summary:

    Looking for a talented Packaging Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will lead the design and technical development of packaging solutions for our products, working closely with Project Teams and Vendors to optimize costs and materials. Your main responsibilities include creating detailed specifications, conducting tests, and ensuring peak performance of packaging design.

    Main Responsibilities:

    Product & Packaging Development/Commercialization:

    • Collaborate with project initiators to define objectives and align expectations
    • Design, review, and test various packaging proposals to optimize manufacturing efficiencies
    • Conduct tests on materials and structures to maximize shelf life and minimize costs
    • Coordinate trials to validate new packaging materials and designs

    Documentation:

    • Create accurate specifications and bill of materials
    • Work with Procurement on obtaining cost estimates for new materials
    • Ensure all technical reports are well-documented and archived

    Packaging Optimization:

    • Initiate research to decrease costs and improve recyclability
    • Implement cost reduction strategies
    • Identify opportunities to standardize materials

    Continuous Self-Development and Improvement:

    • Maintain knowledge of emerging packaging trends
    • Implement new technologies into packaging solutions
    • Identify areas of improvement to strengthen skillsets

    Requirements:

    • Basic understanding of packaging concepts and principles
    • Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to communicate complex information effectively
    • Self-motivated and able to prioritize multiple projects

    Education and Experience:

    BS in Packaging Engineering or related field preferred with 1-3 years of experience
