    Operational Planning/Global Force Management (GFM) Support This position requires an active Secret clearance
    The Operational Planning/GFM Support shall provide operational planning and GFM support for operations, exercises, and humanitarian/disaster relief missions assigned to the AFFOR

    Operational Planning/Global Force Management (GFM) Support Responsibilities Include:

    • Assist in the drafting of AF, joint service, and combined operations plans.
    • Administer the operations planning process in accordance with HAF, MAJCOM, and joint service policies, directives, and procedures.
    • Develop operation plans that are consistent with AF and joint service doctrine that fully exploit the AF's and joint services' unique warfighting capabilities.
    • Coordinate draft versions of plans between staff agencies to ensure a coherent planning effort within the AFFOR.
    • Develop and coordinate concepts for inclusion into Air Force, joint services, or combined operations policies, ensuring operations policies are designed to maximize the effectiveness of air component operations in support of combatant commander's missions; coordinate operations policy actions to facilitate issue resolution and ensure timely completion.
    • Draft Concept of Operations (CONOPS), warning orders, operations orders, execute orders and requests for forces for the Director, Air, Space, and Information Operations.
    • Draft operations annexes of plan supplements to NORAD and USNORTHCOM conceptual and operations plans.
    • Conduct mission analysis and course of action development, develop request for forces with thorough analysis of mission requirements, higher headquarters guidance, plans and supporting data

    Participate in the deliberate and crisis action planning process, lead, and participate in operations planning groups, and in the contingency action team operations.


    • Perform Battle Staff future operation lead planning duties as required for any contingency or exercise requiring a Battle Staff
    Shift work is usually required for Battle Staff duties.


    • Develop, coordinate, and submit requests for forces required to conduct emergent missions; analyze higher headquarters orders to formulate and coordinate annual rotational force requirements for standing missions; monitor validation and sourcing of submitted requests throughout the Global Force Management (GFM) process; and advise staff and senior leadership on GFM policies and procedures.
    • Be responsible for preparation, coordination, and execution of all aspects of adaptive planning efforts supporting NORAD and USNORTHCOM missions.
    • Assemble concept of operations and draft operations Plan (OPLAN) and Contingency Plan (CONPLAN) annexes, branch and sequel plans, exercise plans, Operations Orders (OPORD), Executions Orders (EXORD), and Planning Orders (PLANORD).
    • Manage and conduct special projects and assignments and coordinates with subordinate units, adjacent commands, and higher headquarters on matters of mutual concern in the plans area
    The contractor shall analyze mission requirements and higher headquarters orders, guidance relevant plans, information, and data.


    • Process approved COAs, translates plans, guidance, and direction into mission execution orders and prepares orders for the Director/Commander.
    • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
    Operational Planning/Global Force Management (GFM) Support Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:


    • Must possess 3-5 years' experience supporting operations planning and with the GFM process.
    • Trained and certified to operate the Joint Operations Planning and Execution System (JOPES).
    • Previous experience in operational planning, particularly in the context of military or defense operations.
    • Familiarity with the principles and practices of Global Force Management, including the allocation and assignment of military forces to meet global mission requirements.
    • Experience in strategic planning, including the ability to contribute to the development and execution of operational plans aligned with organizational goals.
    • Completion of relevant military education courses or schools related to operational planning and force management may be beneficial.
    • Strong analytical skills to assess operational requirements, identify gaps, and recommend solutions.
    • Proficiency in using systems and tools related to Global Force Management to track and manage the allocation and deployment of military forces.
    • Effective communication skills to convey operational plans, requirements, and updates to various stakeholders.
    • Collaboration with various agencies, departments, and international partners to ensure coordinated force management and operational planning.
    • Strong decision-making skills to contribute to the development of effective operational plans and respond to dynamic situations.
    • Ability to adapt plans and strategies based on changing operational requirements and geopolitical situations.
    • Conducting risk assessments related to operational plans and proposing risk mitigation strategies.
