    JOB OVERVIEW:

    Under the direct supervision of the Food and Beverage Manager, the Pastry Cook maintains efficient, courteous food / beverage operations by greeting guests, anticipating guests needs, and providing knowledgeable food /beverage service and providing consistent professional guest relations with a positive upbeat personality. We Proudly Serve Starbucks. Proficient in all areas of baking and pastry arts. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to take their practical cooking foundation and elevate that experience to influence creativity, passion, and to encourage and lead by example.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet and greet clients and staff while creating an inviting guest experience.
  • Adheres to the recipes set by the Starbucks Corporation with no deviation from recipes.
  • Continues to enhance education on drinks offered.
  • Ability to work efficiently while providing expedient service, always.
  • Informs management when product is low, and equipment is not functioning properly.
  • Presents menus, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service to patrons.
  • Possesses a strong knowledge of food, spirits, wine, champagne and cocktails.
  • Monitors guests to ensure that they are not intoxicated, and proper procedures are followed if intoxication is observed.
  • Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, including Croissants, Danishes, and more.
  • Provides tray service; large and small trays when needed.
  • Takes orders and may be required to prepare non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages for guests.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire work area.
  • Effectively operates and enters orders into the Point of Sale (POS) system with little to no mistakes.
  • Computes bills and accepts payments served to guests, must have basic math skills, when necessary.
  • Polishes and stocks silverware, glassware, product etc., and prepares for use.
  • Complete side work assigned by Food and Beverage Manager.
  • Assists in the daily operation of the restaurant in an efficient, cost effective and labor effective manner.
  • Contributes to the training of new team members.
  • Serves guests in a responsive, caring, prompt, and courteous manner.
  • Works closely with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of service for our guests.
  • Travel between Shangri-La properties may be needed.
  • Creatively contribute to the development of new pastry offerings.
  • Ability to prepare signage for catering functions.
  • Due to changes and modification in the job from time to time, we require team members to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as management sees the necessity; some assignments may not be listed in this description.
  • Always maintaining professional appearance, etiquette, punctuality, and attendance.
  • Be adaptable with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones.
  • Safety and security protocols set forth by the employer are to be followed with the upmost importance to ensure the safety of our guests and staff.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    High School Degree or GED preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older. No felony or theft convictions. Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit and Able Liquor License. Recent experience in the restaurant field as a server or bartender in an upscale dining service setting is a bonus.

    To maintain a positive guest and associate experience, your work habits should always meet and strive to exceed hotel standards for work procedures, dress, grooming, punctuality, and attendance. You should be adaptable to change in your work area and in hotel procedures with a willingness to learn new skills and/or improve existing ones, can solve routine problems that occur on the job and ask for help whenever you are not sure how to do something.

    Safety & Security:

    The safety and security of our guests and associates is of utmost importance to Crescent. Every Crescent associate should adhere to the hotel security policies and procedures, particularly regarding key controls, lifting heavy objects, using chemicals, and effectively reporting safety hazards and safety concerns.
