    This temporary position is located in Goldsboro, NC - Wayne County.

    Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $ Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

    This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Health and Human Services. This position is located at 1401 W Ash Street., Goldsboro, NC 27530.

    This will be a pool of 4-5 moonlighters who will participate in our coverage.


    Major responsibility as a Medical Services Moonlighting Physician in the Medical Service is to assure optimum patient care and medical management of patients at Cherry Hospital during scheduled afterhours, holidays and weekend duty.

    After hours are 4:30pm-8:30am shifts on weekdays. Holidays are 8:00am-8:30am shifts. Weekend hours are Saturdays 8:00am - 8:30am shifts and Sundays 8:00am - 8:30am shifts.

    Some of our regular providers take part in this call schedule but openings will be available for more than half the shifts.

    1. Medical Services Moonlighting provider will accurately and thoroughly assess and treat all

    patients that they encounter at Cherry Hospital during their shift. These encounters occur in

    response to a number of situations that include but are not limited to:

    a.

    Contact from unit staff RN following the RN assessment that indicates a patient is experiencing a potential or actual decline in their condition.

    b.

    Patient has a medical Major responsibility as a Medical Services Moonlighting Physician in the Medical Service is to assure optimum patient care and medical management of patients at Cherry Hospital during scheduled afterhours, holidays and weekend duty.

    Medical Services Moonlighting provider will accurately and thoroughly assess and treat all patients that they encounter at Cherry Hospital during their shift.

    These encounters occur in response to a number of situations that include but are not limited to:

    a.

    Contact from unit staff RN following the RN assessment that indicates a patient is experiencing a potential or actual decline in their condition.

    b.

    Patient has a medical complaint, not previously evaluated by the medical services provider, that after RN assessment is felt to warrant provider evaluation.

    c. Unit RN has a concern for a newly recognized medical risk factor (eg. Aspiration, Falls)

    d. Hand off communication from medical or psychiatric medical staff requesting follow up evaluation by medical moonlighter.

    e. Consults requested by psychiatric providers.

    f. New admissions to the Medical Psychiatric Unit.

    g. Panic or significantly abnormal lab values that are communicated to the moonlighter

    h


    Emergency Medical Conditions:
    Med Emergencies or Code Blue

    i. New admission medical assessments

    1. (History and Physical) and orders


    • Care will be accomplished using evidence based medical
    guidelines as they exist.


    • The moonlighter will ensure that the patient and/or their legally responsible person (LRP) is educated about planned evaluations, significant results/outcomes and treatments as indicated. The provider will consider the wishes of the patient and/or their LRP when determining the best course of evaluation and treatment.
    • The moonlighter will collaborate in a congenial and polite manner with nursing staff,
    ancillary staff and support staff throughout the facilities in order to effectively carry out afterhours care of the patients.


    • The moonlighter will collaborate in a congenial and polite manner with administrative and Cherry Medical Staff personnel when called upon to do so for reasons that may include, but are not limited to: risk management inquiries and survey readiness.
    • The moonlighter will assess and treat employees suffering from workplace related illness or injury. 7. The moonlighter will assess, stabilize and, if indicated, transfer to a higher level of care, employees, contractors, visitors or individuals not yet admitted to the facility who are suspected to have unstable medical conditions, following all Federal guidelines and regulations (EMTALA).
    • The moonlighter will respond to and participate in the management of medical emergencies for all client groups (patients, non patients) experiencing acute medical
    decompensation including, but not limited to, acute cardiopulmonary arrest.


    • The moonlighter has a backup Medical Services attending physician on back up call from home. The moonlighter must check in with the Medical Services attending physician on call when they encounter any significant patient care concerns as well as when procedural/policy questions arise.

    • Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of general, preventive medicine and of the techniques involved.
    • Thorough knowledge of biological, social, and psychological developmental processes at all ages.
    • Thorough knowledge of the practice and theories of the medical specialty or subspecialty to which assigned.
    • Skill in treating and diagnosing a variety of diseases and injuries in the practice of an applicable specialty of medicine.
    • Ability to assess and interpret laboratory results, clinical data and information relative to the patient's condition.
    • Ability to compile clear and concise notes for patient's charts and to make oral presentations of cases in medical conferences.
    • Ability to supervise and guide work performance of residents and mid-level practitioners.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associate personnel, patients, and their families, and the general public.
    Requirements Licensed to practice medicine in the state of North Carolina.
