The Utility Locator is responsible for identifying and marking underground utilities to ensure safe excavation and construction activities. This role uses locating equipment, maps, and work orders to accurately identify the presence and path of underground facilities.The locator plays a critical role in preventing utility damages, maintaining public safety, and supporting field operations by delivering precise and timely locate services.
Responsibilities
- Perform underground facility locates in accordance with company, state, and utility standards.
- Read and interpret maps, prints, GIS records, and work orders to determine utility paths.
- Use locating tools and equipment (e.g., transmitters, receivers, toners) to accurately mark underground utilities.
