    TITLE: Secretary
    DEPARTMENT: Pulmonology - Samsa
    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR JOB TITLE: Physician Services Director

    Position Summary

    The Cardiopulmonary Services Secretary is responsible for all clerical duties required for the normal operation of the Departments including greeting and scheduling patients, maintaining logs, forms and reports.

    Essential Functions
    • Acknowledges patients in a pleasant and professional manner when presenting to the department
    • Answers phones, screens calls, takes messages and relays information to appropriate staff
    • Maintains clear and concise patient schedule, daily and monthly logs, forms and reports in a timely manner using the EMR and manually documented information
    • Completes required preregistration forms
    • Presents clear, concise, organized information exchanges and interactions with all customers
    • Keeps Cardiopulmonary Director well informed of pertinent information relating to work issues and changes within the work environment that could impact services
    Non-essential Functions
    • Assists other staff members and departments during times of need
    • Participates in quality improvement activities
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Position Requirements
    • High school graduate or equivalency
    • Basic computer and office equipment skills
    • Medical Terminology
    • Prior secretarial experience in the healthcare field preferred
    • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS

    • Mentally alert and detail oriented, capable or dealing with a diversity of tasks and interuptions
    • Remains calm and functional in crisis or confrontational situations
    Physical Requirements

    Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.
