    Monogram Food Solutions recognizes its team members are key contributors to its mission of growing profitably in the valued added baked goods sector. Our role, R&D Manager is responsible for driving technical support and guidance in our baking and assembly operations to internal/external customers as required by business objectives. Capable of developing product formulations that effectively translate into profitable new business opportunities. Comfortable managing all aspects of new product development and optimization: concept generation, prototyping, defining specifications for raw materials and unit operations, scale up and commercialization support. Able to successfully guide and interact with cross-functional teams on problem solving, product/process improvements and innovative customer focused solutions.

    The incumbent will plan, organize, execute and complete product development projects of complex scope and provide the technical leadership on assignments involving cross-functional teams. Will individually or with a team select and/or develop the appropriate methods for testing and execution of culinary creations.

    This role will interface frequently with various internal departments (i.e. Marketing, Purchasing, Engineering, Operations, and Sales), vendors and customers in accomplishing project milestones. The incumbent will work directly with the plants Quality Assurance department to ensure USDA/FDA regulation compliance within the manufacturing processes. The incumbent will leverage research lab, pilot lab, manufacturing facilities and equipment as required to deliver on projects objectives. The individual in this role will work independently and with teams to develop solutions to a variety of technical problems.

    Specific accountabilities include:

    • Drive and champion Innovation to support the growth of Monograms Gourmet Business.
    • Generate concepts and produce high quality product prototypes to enable new and existing business.
    • Development and implementation of new baking formulations and processes as directed by business needs.
    • Assure projects compliance with internally established business processes and external regulatory agencies.
    • Collaboratively work with customers cross-functional teams to find solutions to their innovation and cost management needs.
    • Creative thinking developing new prototypes that fit customer and business needs.
    • Lead the Boston based R&D team.
    • Comfortable presenting samples and presentations to customers and internal teams

    The ideal candidate will have the following:

    • At least 7 years of experience in baking in one of the following areas: product development, operations and/or technical service.
    • BS in Bakery Science or related field of study, Masters degree preferred.
    • Culinary degree from an RCA accredited institution or equivalent experience, preferred.
    • Up to date knowledge in food trends and current cooking techniques.
    • Knowledge and understanding of USDA regulations as it pertains to baked products.
    • Ability to communicate technical issues fluidly across functions: operations, marketing, R&D, sales and with customers.
    • Capable of independently and effectively presenting samples to customers and potential business stakeholders.
    • Considered subject matter expert in their field.
    • Able to work on cold and wet environments for prolonged time.
    • Able to independently lift and handle 30 lb packages.
    • Able to travel up to 20% of the time.
    • Must be 18 years or older.
