- Prepare samples and set up testing space for sensory evaluations.
- Prepare computer designs for data collection and study execution.
- Create report templates and consolidate simple data precisely in written and oral formats for sensory leaders.
- Assist panel leader and scientists with project scheduling, panel management and trainings.
- Accurately document or modify sensory protocols according to experimental specifications.
- Ability to identify gaps and make recommendations on laboratory and process improvements to enhance work safety and efficiency.
- Reports on status of lab and project activities via verbal updates and written formats.
- Communicate with IT support, plant personnel, and research developers on issues with minimal scientist supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the Sensory labs.
- Manage lab inventory of chemicals, equipment, consumables, references, and products.
- Be the backup descriptive analysis panel leader as needed. Training on panel leading will be provided.
- B.A. or B.S. degree with at least 3 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to follow instructions and testing procedures carefully.
- Basic understanding of the foundations of sensory science is a plus.
- Experience with Compusense Cloud data collection software is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
- Maintain housekeeping and observes safety standards in lab.
- Ability and willingness to evaluate food and beverage products daily.
- Ability to function independently while interacting with ADM management, facility management, and ADM contract employees.
- Prioritization of tasks against available resources and time constraints.
- Troubleshooting and problem solving in team environments.
- Effective writing and oral communication skills.
- Resolves conflicts effectively to encourage teamwork, without breaking cohesion and trust.
- Meticulous attention to detail.
- Maintain confidential and highly sensitive information.
- Ability to sit in meetings, at desk or stand in lab for long periods.
- Ability to use standard office equipment.
