    Job Description:

    The Department of Computing and Applied Technology is pleased to invite applications for a full-time tenure track faculty appointment in Cybersecurity. Major responsibilities of this position include college-level teaching of cybersecurity and networking, with potential additional opportunities to teach courses in other computing content areas such as programming, software engineering, computer architecture, databases, tech support, and web development. Additional responsibilities include academic advising, curriculum development, participation on committees, and collaboration with colleagues to assess student learning outcomes.

    The successful candidate will be qualified to teach several of the following classes. See Programs: Cybersecurity (A.S.); Computer Science (A.S.); Computer Information Systems (A.A.S.)

    CYB-101 Computer Security
    CYB-232 Cybercrime
    CYB-250 Server Administration
    CIS-170 Network Fundamentals
    CIS-270 Routing & Switching
    Other technical courses as necessary

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Be responsive to student questions and available for student support;
    • Use appropriate technology to enhance learning;
    • Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives;
    • Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education;
    • Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion;
    • Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes;
    • Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester; and,
    • Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including
    Requirements:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR RANK OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR:

    Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or closely-allied field preferred, Industry recognized professional license or certification; with a minimum of 3 years of full-time employment in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or closely-allied field.

    OR

    Doctorate Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or closely-allied field, with at least one year of full-time in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or closely-allied field.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Background in teaching college-level courses.
    • Industry-recognized certifications.
    • Demonstrated connections with local industry.
    • Bilingual in English & Spanish (English and another language also will be considered).
    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project).
    • Experience with cybersecurity principles, concepts, and protocols
    • Computer networking
    • Network and server administration
    • Linux
    • Familiarity with programming languages is a plus
      • Java
      • C++
      • Python
    Additional Information:

    Onondaga Community College offers an excellent benefit package including health, dental and vision insurance. Qualified domestic partners are eligible to participate. The employee will also be a member of the NYS Retirement System.

    The starting salary for the rank of Assistant Professor is $56,250. Salaries for are not yet available. Full-time faculty can make an additional $15,000-$20,000 annually by teaching more than 15 credits in each regular semester and by teaching during off-hand (e.g., summer) periods.
