Upbound staffing is focused on employment and created in partnership with the Autism Alliance of Michigan. Position Title: Material Handler

Location: Novi, MI

Description: The Material Handler supports the flow of materials throughout the facility, to and from suppliers and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide updated information to the Material Planning & Logistics team and other areas for monitoring and decision making.

Drive/operate fork truck and all material handling equipment as authorized and licensed by department leadership.

Load and unload trucks and containers.

Wash incoming parts as requested.

Prepare parts for production line, including sorting, loading and unloading parts into parts washer and delivering materials to the production line in a timely fashion to keep production running

Perform packaging, repacking, labeling and waste removal as directed.

Count, verify and audit materials as required.

Scan racks into warehouse system using hand-scanner.

Secondary Functions:

Perform quality checks, cleaning and 5S housekeeping as needed

Perform clerical duties as required

Work with Materials Supervisor on continuous improvement initiatives

Support all supply chain functions as required

Desirable Experience:

1 year of warehouse, cycle count, physical inventory or related experience required.

Ability to pass forklift skill test and acquire license

High school diploma or GED preferred.

SAP, Covisint, and Trusted Link computer system experience preferred.

Ability to handle physical workload and lift up to 35 pounds unassisted and 50 pounds assisted.

Ability to rotate work areas and duties as necessary.

Status: Contract Hire. Hired in after 60 days based on performance.

Hours per week: FT, 40 hours/week

Compensation range: 17.50/hr to start. $19/hr upon direct hire. $0.50/per hour shift premium Wed-Sat (5p-3a). Double time on Sunday if needed.
