- Identifies opportunities to improve products or reduce costs by providing manufacturing decision- making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements
- Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
- Decides where each part of the aircraft will be placed and makes sure the support structure is strong enough to carry any excess weight
- Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods equipment, and conferring with equipment vendors
- Determines root causes of failures and recommends changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements, and equipment layout
- Incorporates new methods and processes to improve existing operations
- Supervises technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, or other engineers
- Troubleshoots new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes
- Reviews product designs for manufacturability or completeness
- Trains production personnel in new or existing methods
- Communicates manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other information to facilitate production processes
- Designs, installs, or troubleshoots manufacturing equipment
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations
- Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service
- Maintains product and process database by writing computer programs; entering data
- Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians
- Experience: 5-7 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be a U.S
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S
- Holds and able to maintain a valid U.S
- Must pass pre-placement drug screen and background investigation
- Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods - 9 hours minimum
- Physically able to handle items weighing up to 40lbs unassisted
- May be exposed to high level noise, dust, and vibration and chemical fumes (within OSHA limits)
- Continuous use of both hands including grasping, pulling, and pushing
- Walking and balancing on even and uneven surfaces
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, climb, bend, crawl, and be able to reach overhead and below the shoulder
