- Prepare routine solutions and reagents.
- Conduct reliability testing.
- Create internal standard, calibration, and quality control solutions.
- Operate laboratory instrumentation for data collection to support performance verification, method validation, and reference material confirmation.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative method validations.
- Manage inventory of reference materials, chemical stockpiles, solutions, and lab equipment.
- Perform instrument performance checks and maintenance.
- Verify reference materials.
- Conduct stockroom supply inventory, restock supply room, and submit supply order requests.
- Clean and calibrate balances, and manage daily cleaning and distribution of lab glassware.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must pass Agency Clearance and pre-employment background check.
- Prior experience in a chemical laboratory setting with quantitative/qualitative chemical analysis.
- Successful completion of 2 years of study, including semester hours in physical science, mathematics, excluding financial and commercial math courses.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to meet qualification requirements.
- The work involves some physical exertion like walking or bending. The duration of the activity often contributes to the demanding nature of the job.
- Physical science technicians must attend annual training hours, with potential travel for training purposes.
