- Performs a variety of administrative and technical duties to assist the FO in its mission and activities.
- Schedules (or reschedules) meetings, appointments, and conferences in accordance with the FO' instructions.
- Receives senior government officials, high-ranking personnel, visitors and phone calls from the private, public and non-profit sectors
- Prepares or ensures that briefing books and other materials are ready for the FO's meetings.
- Receives, reads, and prepares all out-going and incoming correspondence for accuracy.
- Makes travel arrangements based on travel intentions
- Accurately prepares travel orders and travel vouchers in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Establishes and maintains the FO's office records of various types that may be needed or will assist in the efficient operation of the office.
- Prepares documents including briefing check lists for principals, letters, and reports
- Sends periodic messages and announcements for the Ambassador and/or Office through e-blasts to database contacts.
- Conducts research on human trafficking issues in countries around the world and relevant governments' effort to confront it as well as in special issues that affect multiple countries or regions, such as human trafficking in the fishing, agricultural, logging, or mining sectors
- Analyzes collected information and compiles findings into a variety of well-written products for both internal J/TIP use and external dissemination.
- Provides oral and written briefings on findings to FO and other senior-level staff and others within the Department of State as required.
- Performs special projects and other related duties as necessary and serves as a backup for the Special Assistant and Staff Assistant.
- Bachelors Degree Required
- One (1) year of experience researching human trafficking issues required
- Demonstrate excellent organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to liaise with other Department bureaus and offices as well as non-governmental organizations.
- Conduct research and analysis on foreign policy topics, ideally on human trafficking.
- Ability to perform administrative tasks successfully.
- Ability to successfully utilize office automation software applicationsadvanced functions in Excel or statistical software is a plus.
- Think critically, write succinctly, manage multiple projects and deadlines, and work both independently and in a team environment.
- Develop and maintain complex, nuanced interpersonal relationships in a multicultural environment, including providing clear direction to more senior officers.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

The Executive and Research Assistant assists the Ambassador-at- Large, Principal Deputy Director, and Deputy Director (Front Office-FO) and provides administrative support and research support to the Deputy Directors and to Senior Coordinators as requested

Starting at $79,000 Pay commensurate with experience

Executive and Research Assistant Responsibilities Include:
Serves in a liaison and information gathering capacity between the FO and J/TIP staff and other personnel, both in the Department and in other agencies.
