    Job Overview


    The Ruggedized Fiber Optic (RFO) Manufacturing Development has the following charter. To supply the quick turn capabilities needed for prototypes and customer samples. To supply tooling designs in support of new products and processes to meet customer ramp up schedules. In summary, to create cost effective solutions for first NPI product builds and prepare those products for transfer to production.

    This opening is for an experienced manufacturing technician. This person will be a key member of simultaneous engineering teams and will be responsible for optical connector assembly, termination of various configurations of fiber optic cable assemblies, and testing of these cable assemblies. This individual will also assist in process development and resolution of problems encountered in the process of bringing new optical products from concept to market. Other duties will include operation of fiber router & completion of over-molding process. The position will also provide suggestions for the simplification of new products to reduce costs and increase overall manufacturing efficiency.

    The individual must also be able to work as a team member with remote sites and outside vendors. The individual is to be a self-starter and have the ability to work well under schedule pressures and be able to balance workload as priorities change. Candidates need to have a strong work ethic with a desire to continually learn & with a concentrated focus on serving the Customer.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    1. Termination of various standard fiber optic termini as well new termini designs.

    2. Support prototype product builds, test product builds, pre-release NPI builds.

    3. Perform IL & RL testing of various configurations of cable assemblies.

    4. Perform EFG & IPC (workmanship) checks on both single & multi-fiber termini.

    5. Mechanical Aptitude to safely & efficiently operate equipment (E-Stop/Soft Stop, identifying issues,

    clearing faults and acknowledging machines states.

    6. Assist in the estimation process step durations.

    7. Assist in setting-up new manufacturing processes.

    8. Suggest process changes to improve overall manufacturing efficiencies.

    9. Communication within a team atmosphere to ensure clarity of purpose & Customer satisfaction.

    10. Soldering & PCBA Assembly skills for the following: Wire Harnesses, Connectors, Passive Components (Resistors, Capacitors, etc.), IC (Integrated Circuits).

    11. Use of Fiber Optic & Electronic Test Equipment: Optical Power Meters, IL/RL Test, Oscilloscope, DMM (Digital Multi Meter), Variable Power Supplies, Variable Attenuators, Optical & RF Switch.

    This position requires access to information that is subject to stringent controls under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent residents, persons granted asylee status in the U.S., or persons admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.

    What your background should look like:


    - Fiber Optic background is not necessary as we are willing to train the right candidate

    - Completed High School or equivalent.

    - Preferred 2 years of experience within the manufacturing environment.

    - Must have good time management skills to work on numerous projects simultaneously.

    - Attention to Detail (following BOM's, Routers, and, understanding drawings/prints).

    - Proficient Dexterity & Motor Skills for intricate/delicate work.

    - Need to have requisite Excel skills to record, organize, & analyze data..

    The schedule for this role is flexible, either 4X10 hours or 5X8 hours per day, must have a willingness to work OT and Saturdays as needed.

    COMPENSATION

    • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $40,080 – $60,120 (subject to change dependent on physical location)

    • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.

    • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
