We are actively looking for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our Seattle office. As part of the Water Group, the Senior Engineer will coordinate with BULs and lead the strategic planning and internal/external engagement for reservoir storage recovery opportunities, projects, and programs for new and existing clientele.

  • In coordination with BULs, leads strategic planning and internal/external engagement for reservoir storage recovery opportunities, projects, and programs for new and existing clientele
  • Manages programs, projects, tasks, including scope, schedule and budget. Directs staff in project tasks and assists in identification of talent to grow the capabilities of the local, regional, and national team
  • Leads the development of plans, specifications, and cost estimates, in support of final bid packages
  • Serves as technical lead on projects and, as appropriate, oversees junior, mid- and senior-level engineering staff on projects that may include dredging, sediment management, geomorphology, surface water hydrology & hydraulics, flood risk management, estuarine/ coastal restoration and protection, and construction and value engineering
  • Will drive expansion of reservoir storage recovery capabilities within company
  • Works with BUL to implement strategy on how to approach current and new clients for business opportunities
  • Manages and/or supports multidisciplinary teams on small to mid-sized coastal and port/maritime projects
  • Oversees 1D and 2D riverine hydraulic and sediment modeling
  • Manages study and design activities and meetings between project team members, subcontractors, and client managers
  • Leads project decisions regarding technical approaches, feasibility, cost, construction approaches, and scheduling performance
  • Prepares and reviews proposal and labor estimates. When appropriate, participates in project interviews
  • Prepares written and graphic reports and makes presentations
  • Prepares various draft and final documents, including reports and technical memoranda
  • Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
  • Assists with maintaining compliance related to project governance and audits related to corporate certification requirements (e.g. ISO9001)
  • Supervisory responsibilities: Supervises a group or functionProvides guidance to subordinates with the latitude of established company policiesManages through subordinate supervisors, the coordination of the activities of a section or department with responsibly for results, including cost, methods and staffingIn some instances the Senior Water Resources Engineer may be responsible for a functional area and not have any subordinates

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, Water Resources, or Environmental Engineering; required
  • Master's degree in civil, Coastal, or Water Resources Engineering; preferred
  • 15+ years of experience; required
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license; required
  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) Certificate; preferred
  • Broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives to achieve goals in creative and effective ways
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with team members and project managers
  • Background and/or experience with engineering analysis and design of various project types including a combination of:
  • Civil and drainage design and plan preparation
  • Reservoir storage recovery
  • Coastal / Port projects
  • Floodplain mapping and floodplain management
  • FEMA Floodplain Regulations and Standards
  • Watershed assessment & planning
  • Urban flood risk and floodplain management
  • Flood protection and resilience
  • Dredging and cost estimation
  • Preparing project scope and fee proposals
  • Working knowledge of software programs and techniques, which may include:AutoCAD Civil 3DHEC-RASHEC-HMSESRI GISMicrosoft office suite

  • Base salary range:

    $120,000 to $150,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

    Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the Washington market.

    Working conditions:

    General office setting.

    Physical requirements:

    Ability to use standard office equipment. Sits for a prolonged period of time. Travel may be required up to 25%.
