    The Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) is responsible for facilitating and obtaining appropriate physician and provider documentation for any clinical conditions or procedures to support correct coding and reflect appropriate severity of illness, expected risk of mortality and complexity of care of the patient.

    Is responsible for supporting education provided to members of the healthcare team regarding documentation guidelines for physicians, allied health practitioners, nursing and case management based on both individual patients and population trends.

    This role also provides support to the Clinical Informatics Specialists RN to maintain compliance with current level of Merit-Based Incentive Payment Systems (MIPS) and the planning documentation, compliance and attestation for future MIPS and other payment system requirements.

    This role may provide limited coverage to the Medical Oncology Clinic for Medical Assisting.

    Supports and adheres to the Oklahoma Cancer Specialists and Research Institute Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.


    Qualifications:

    High School diploma or equivalent required, Associate degree preferred. A minimum of three years of experience in a medical clinic or billing office setting required. CPC certification preferred. Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants and CPR certification preferred. General understanding of ICD-10, CPT codes and modifies for clinical setting. Medical terminology certification preferred.
