    Summary of Position
    The Assistant Director of Residential Experience serves as a key member of the Residential Life & Dining Services leadership team and is responsible for leadership and management of PULSE (Plymouth Upper-Level Student Experience) communities at Plymouth State. Reporting to the Director of Residential Life & Dining Services, the Assistant Director is a 12-month, full-time, live-on position responsible for selection, training, and supervision of 4-6 live-in professional and/or graduate level staff members. In addition, this position coordinates student staff recruitment and retention efforts, collaborates with strategic campus partners, and participates in an administrator on call rotation.

    Other minimum qualifications
    • A completed master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Administration, Counseling, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Significant progressive experience in housing & residential life, student leadership programs, or a related higher education field
    • Experience supervising professional and/or graduate-level staff members
    • Demonstrated knowledge base and ability to address residential student success
    • Demonstrated skills in management, administration, oral and written communications, budgeting, interpersonal relationships, short- and long-range planning, problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking
    • Demonstrated foundational knowledge of student development and understanding of current trends in the field of housing & residence lif
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and demonstrate the ability to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of a diverse and dynamic environment
    • Experience serving in a residential on-call structure.


    Additional Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior experience in higher education at a four-year institution
    • Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including MS Office Systems, student housing software (e.g., StarRez, eRezLife), and student conduct software (e.g., Maxient)
    • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and key stakeholders
    • Desire to utilize, create, and implement innovative practices in residential life.
    • Experience integrating residential and academic initiatives (Living-Learning Communities, Special Interest Housing, Residential Curriculum)

    Duty/Responsibility
    SUPERVISION
    • Directly supervise 4-6 professional and/or graduate level live-in staff on all aspects of their work. This includes clearly communicating expectations, evaluating work, providing individualized professional development, and conducting reviews of each individual staff member.
    • Serve on the Residential Life & Dining Services Senior Leadership Duty Rotation, providing support and guidance to Residence Education staff for elevated student crisis situations (evenings and weekends), including academic breaks

    LEADERSHIP & EDUCATION
    • Provide exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a new, challenging, and emerging direction within the University.
    • Development, implementation, operations, and assessment of PULSE including Affinity Housing program as part of the department's comprehensive community development model that that supports co-curricular engagement and academic success for students.
    • Provide leadership to 4-6 professional and/or graduate level staff through committee work and other departmental initiatives.
    • Build strong relationships and collaborations with campus partners and stakeholders; including students, faculty, staff, and families.


    Duty/Responsibility
    POLICY
    • Develop and update Residential Life Policies and Procedures.
    • Participate in the student conduct process by following up on critical incidents, hearing individual cases, hearing appeals, and serving on panels.
    • Ensure departmental compliance with applicable laws, including, but not limited to, Title IX and the FERPA; exercise best practices with regard to the maintenance of confidential student information.


    Duty/Responsibility
    • Serve on departmental and campus committees related to the residential student experience.
    • Work a flexible work schedule due to evening and weekend programs and events, particularly during peak times of year related to residence hall move-in and staff training programs.
    • Possess the ability to work independently and as a member of a group in addressing strategic priorities, particularly relevant to developing and executing goals and objectives.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Provide feedback for departmental processing and expenditures, ensuring consistency with the departmental, campus, and USNH policies and guidance.
