    Work location: 2128 Highway 39 North, Meridian, MS

    Job Type: Full Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt

    Hours: Normal work shift for this position is 8 hours daily, Monday-Friday. Start time varies on departmental and seasonal needs. Seasonal work may require (4), 10 hour days.

    East MS EPA is an EOE, including disability/vets.

    Job Purpose:

    Assists with the construction, maintenance, and repair of mainline and service drop fiber. Performs in-premise fiber, ethernet, and electronic installations in residential and commercial buildings. Trains and educates customers how to fully utilize internet connected equipment including voice and video products. Recommends the correct services for the customer based on their use and need. Markets products in group and individual settings.

    Essential Functions:

    Assists fellow fiber technicians in construction, maintenance, and repair of aerial and underground mainline and service drop fiber.

    Safely, efficiently, and professionally installs, prepares, removes, troubleshoots, tests, and maintains in-premise electronics, fiber, ethernet and related equipment.

    Determines the ideal placement of equipment for meeting customer needs, best propagation of signals.

    Works with in-premise install team to develop best practices for installation of in-premise equipment by contractors or Association employees. Properly document all work performed.

    Responds in a timely manner to outages and customer requests.

    Follows and interprets maps, specifications, and staking sheets.

    Minimum Requirements:

    High school diploma/GED is required. Associates Degree in Telecommunications/Electronics, or a related field, is preferred.

    Must have two years of current and relevant work experience in telecommunications with High School Diploma/GED. No experience required with Associates degree in Telecommunications/Electronics, or a related field.

    Must possess a valid Mississippi driver's license. Class B commercial driver's license is preferred.

    Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, critical thinking, problems-solving, technical and analytical skills.

    Must be able to carry out duties with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

    Must be able to distinguish colors; exhibit visual depth perception; extend neck to look above, down and side to side; reach overhead, forward and to the side; extend back; use both hands and fingers, grip, and twist wrist; bend/ stoop; squat/crouch; twist; work on hands and knees; sit and stand for long periods of time; walk long distances and on uneven terrain; maintain arm-hand steadiness; work at heights using a ladder and/or bucket for long periods of time.

    Must be able to use a computer and be proficient with computer software/systems to carry out assigned duties.

    Must be able to work efficiently and independently.

    Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 pounds. Heavier weights with assistance.

    Must be able to operate equipment/machinery, such as, but not limited to, fiber-splicing and fiber optic testing, four-wheeler, service buckets, trucks, forklift, and other utility equipment necessary to complete assigned duties.

    Must be able to work irregular and long hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Must be able to pull on-call duty and be available during emergency conditions. Must be able to travel across service territory.

    Exposure to unknown living conditions of customers.

    Successfully complete a pre-employment physical, drug, and alcohol screen and E-Verification.
