    Job Summary:


    The Manager, Product Engineering serves as a hands-on leader responsible for the design, development and delivery of components, sub-assemblies, and packs through the product development lifecycle.

    The Manager, Product Engineering is an experienced technology leader who applies wide engineering knowledge and best practices to contribute individually and manage engineering project teams.

    The Manager, Product Engineering is comfortable applying technical knowledge to innovative designs, driving resolution of challenges, managing direct and indirect reports, and taking ownership of new product development activities.


    Responsibilities:


    • Drive new product development and the creation of tools & processes supporting efficient design.
    • Apply technical knowledge to the on-time delivery of work products through the product development life cycle for each project.
    • Utilize technical awareness to proactively identify and mitigate risks in design delivery.
    • Serve as a mentor to Design & Release Engineers and members of the engineering teams.
    • Ensure that materials, components, and pack solutions meet internal and customer requirements.
    • Support the evaluation of supplier information, specifications, and validation data to support the selection of appropriate suppliers.
    • Align with the Advanced Manufacturing and Manufacturing teams to identify design improvements and processes to support Design for Manufacture/ Design for Assembly (DFM/DFA).
    • Ensure prototype builds occur on time and that components are to print.
    • Establish and manage direct and indirect labor costs and the engineering budget associated with new product development.
    • Expand professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars and conferences, reviewing professional publications, and establishing personal networks.
    • Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
    • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
    • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

    Position Qualifications:


    • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
    • Minimum of ten (10) years' of product development and engineering experience in a manufacturing-focused environment.
    • Minimum of five (5) years' of progressive supervisory or management experience.
    • Adept in troubleshooting methods and disciplined documentation of findings.
    • Effective communicator, capable of concisely presenting highly technical data to internal and external customers.
    • Minimum two (2) years' of design, engineering, manufacturing, or service of lithium-ion battery systems in either a hands-on role or in a supervisory role.
    • Minimum of two (2) years' of experience in executing design, engineering and testing based on common automotive and industry standards.
    • Familiar with the product development process.
    • Self-motivated problem solver; pays attention to details.
