    Catholic Health is looking for an experienced Chairperson of the Department of Surgery to join Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, NY a member of Catholic Health.

    Good Samaritan University Hospital (GSUH) is a 537-bed teaching hospital located approximately 40 miles from the heart of New York City, in West Islip, Long Island New York, it is surrounded by a rich culture and history offering a diverse palette of attractions and points of interests.

    GSUH has almost 900 physicians on staff and cares for nearly 950,000 patients annually across the south shore of Long Island.

    GSUH is currently undergoing a $500M expansion and will expand its emergency department, operating rooms and patient rooms.

    GSUH is recognized as Level 1 Trauma Center for its ability to treat the most severely injured patients and conduct trauma research and education.

    The Ideal candidate will have documented success in the clinical and education spheres and proven capabilities in strategic planning, recruitment and development, operations, resource allocation and related decision-making.

    The Department of Surgery Chairperson will have a demonstrated record of successfully implementing policies, procedures and methods of operation approved by the Hospital.

    The Chairperson of the Department of Surgery will ensure compliance with the Department for all applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules and regulations, and Hospital policies and procedures as related to surgical case review.

    The Chairperson of the Department of Surgery will have overall responsibility for the day to day administration and supervision of personnel and the clinical functions of the Department (including arranging for proper coverage during all periods of your absence from the Hospital); Department includes surgical divisions of General Surgery, Neurosurgery, Bariatric Surgery, Breast Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Podiatry, Thoracic, Urology, Vascular, Dentistry/Oral maxillary Facial, Head and Neck, and Surgical Oncology.

    GSUH is a major clinical campus for the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) supporting core and elective medical student rotations.

    The Chairperson of The Department of Surgery will work closely with medical students through their graduate medical education programs.

    Requirements:
    Board-Certified and Fellowship Trained in General Surgery
    Minimum of 7-10 years in a clinical leadership role
    NYS Licensed MD/DO
    Strong Interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage at all levels of the organization

    Salary Range:
    $600,000-$800,000K


    This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate's education, training, skills, licensure and certification, competencies and other relevant experience.
