    POSITION OVERVIEW: The Registered Dietitian (RD) will play a crucial role in supporting the health and well-being of birthing persons throughout pregnancy, postpartum, and infant feeding by ensuring that MRHV participants receive health education, nutrition counseling, and holistic wellness support.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Nutritional Assessment

    • Conduct culturally appropriate nutritional assessments according to ASPEN guidelines;
    • Review dietary intake for factors impacting health conditions and nutritional risk;
    • Evaluate psychosocial, functional, and behavioral factors related to food access, selection, preparation, physical activity, and understanding of health conditions;
    • Determine when conditions require consultation or referral to another provider or service; and
    • Develop personalized nutrition and wellness plans for moderate to high-risk perinatal conditions, considering cultural preferences and dietary restrictions.

    Supervision and Care Coordination

    • Supervise and lead the Health and Wellness team;
    • Serve as a resource for all Mothers Rising staff regarding the nutritional management of MRHV participants;
    • In collaboration with the Lactation team, support breastfeeding and formula families with medically complex conditions to optimize nutrition;
    • Participate as a member of the care team, attending staff meetings and contributing to participant care planning;
    • Oversee the facilitation of Blossoming Bellies nutritional classes and other workshops;
    • Assist in planning group programming for ALL MRHV participants, focusing on nutritional aspects crucial for pregnancy, postpartum, and lactation; and
    • Manage a caseload of up to 30 clients.

    Administrative Duties

    • Maintain client records that are accurate and comprehensive and adhere to MV documentation policies and billing timelines;
    • Meet weekly productivity standards as set by the Director;
    • Tracks all home visits, office visits, phone calls, text messages, emails, or referrals to other service providers/agencies in the MV electronic health records system;
    • Complete ongoing professional development as necessary and directed by the supervisor; and
    • Track daily time in Harvest

    SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS TO FOSTER SUCCESS

    • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field; Master's degree preferred
    • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Registered Dietitian, preferably in maternal and infant health
    • Current licensure as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) in DC and MD
    • Knowledge of appropriate assessment and diagnostic instruments
    • Demonstrates ability for a high degree of analysis, critical thinking, and independent clinical judgment
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, iOS, and Google Suite
    • Demonstrate excellence in organizational skills and time management, and the ability to prioritize workloads and meet competing deadlines in a busy environment
    • Demonstrate excellence in interpersonal communication and leadership, and be adaptable and open-minded
    • Excellent verbal and written skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team and interact with senior-level staff, medical personnel, community stakeholders, clients, and volunteers
    • Willingness to engage in continuous learning and training
