    The Lisle Park District is currently looking for motivated individuals, 18 & over, to serve as camp counselors at Camp Summer Quest. We are searching for candidates who are reliable, creative, enthusiastic, and team players who love spending time outside. Candidates with experience supervising children, skills in games, crafts, sports is preferred.

    • Staff Training: Tuesday May 28th-Friday May 31st
    • Camp Dates: June 3rd-August 9th (no camp on 7/4, 7/5) (10 weeks)
    • 40 hours per week
    • Regular Camp Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm
    • Extended Hours (7:15am-9am and 5pm-6pm)
    • Starting pay range $ per hour based on qualifications
    • Interviews will be scheduled for March & April
    • Number of staff needed will be based on number of returning staff.

    Camp Summer Quest Job Responsibilities

    General Description: Plans, organizes and conducts a variety of group activities for group assigned. The counselor is directly responsible for the safety and welfare of the campers at our outdoor based camp. Primary emphasis should be on fun and individual growth through well-rounded and diversified recreation opportunities. The Camp Counselor is directly responsible to the Camp Director(s) and Athletic and Youth Camp Manager.

    Position Responsibilities

    1. Pre-Camp Planning
      • Participate in staff orientation and training
      • Assist Camp Directors in development of well-rounded camp activities
    2. Programming
      • Plan a variety of daily group activities which involves such program areas as games, sports, nature, crafts, music, creative dramatics, etc
      • Assist Camp Directors in planning, organizing and implementing special programs
    3. Supervision
      • Supervise and participate in group activities
      • Be accountable for the whereabouts and safety of all campers during group activities and field trips
    4. Administration
      • Report any problems to the Camp Directors
      • Fill out necessary accident forms
      • Complete weekly program planning sheets and turn in Friday
      • Attend and participate in weekly staff meeting
    5. Public Relations
      • Act in a professional manner at all times
      • Introduce yourself to parents at the beginning of each week
      • Greet each parent and camper daily
    6. Health and Safety
      • Administer first aid when necessary
      • Successfully complete first aid and CPR & AED training before the start of camp. (Will be provided during camp training if not currently certified)
      • Follow and implement all Covid-19 policies and procedures
    7. Supplies/Equipment/Facilities
      • Ensure proper use of supplies and equipment during activities
      • Return supplies and equipment to their proper container
      • Turn in requisitions for supplies
      • Report damages or faulty equipment immediately
    8. General
      • Be available to work all 10 weeks of camp plus 1 week of training
      • Follow camp procedures and policies at all times
      • Perform other duties as assigned
      • Have the ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
      • The ability to lead and participate in children's activities and sports both indoors and outdoors.
