    Description

    We are in search of an experienced and committed General Superintendent with a solid background in asphalt paving and construction to lead our field operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of overseeing large-scale asphalt projects, ensuring top-notch quality, safety, and efficiency. As a General Superintendent, you will be tasked with supervising multiple projects, collaborating with project managers, and ensuring timely and cost-effective project completion. The role involves overseeing 2 paving crews, 2 asphalt plants, managing 5 Foremen as direct reports, and overseeing 2-3 Plant Foremen. This position is based in the Western Massachusetts area, with relocation assistance available if needed.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Project Oversight:
      • Supervise and coordinate all field operations for asphalt paving projects.
      • Ensure adherence to contract specifications, design plans, and quality standards.
    • Team Leadership:
      • Lead, guide, and develop field staff, including foremen, crew leaders, and laborers.
      • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration.
    • Scheduling and Planning:
      • Develop and manage project schedules to ensure timely task completion.
      • Effectively allocate resources and personnel in coordination with project managers.
    • Quality Control:
      • Implement and enforce quality control measures to uphold required standards.
      • Conduct regular site inspections for progress monitoring and issue identification.
    • Safety Management:
      • Promote a safety-focused culture across all job sites.
      • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
      • Conduct safety meetings and training sessions for field staff.
    • Resource Management:
      • Optimize productivity through effective equipment, material, and resource management.
      • Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for timely material and service delivery.
    • Problem Solving:
      • Identify and resolve issues or conflicts during project execution.
      • Communicate efficiently with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to address concerns.
    • Reporting and Documentation:
      • Maintain accurate project progress records, daily reports, and other documentation.
      • Present regular status reports to senior management and clients.

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in asphalt paving and construction.
    • Sound knowledge of asphalt materials, methods, and industry standards.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Proficient in construction management software and tools.
    • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
