    Description


    The Senior Software Manager will grow, manage, and guide a team of controls and software engineers in development of our new control system.

    This team will own the design, implementation, unit testing, and software integration testing of C++ Embedded software modules, ensuring that robust software design is defined, developed, tested, and maintained using the latest industry standards and best practices for managing complex software systems.

    This role will establish a new sub-section and will look to utilize existing expertise, as well as fostering new talent development as we build a strong control and software development organization.


    Responsibilities:

    • Manage a high performing Software team by utilizing existing resource expertise, as well as developing and attracting new talent.
    • Provide hands on leadership, coaching, and training to a team of software development engineers.
    • Implement career development plans for the long term technical and professional growth of the team.
    • Own the full Software development lifecycle for controls applications, platform infrastructure software, and board support packages.
    • Develop testing strategies to ensure high quality code, prevent software defects, and ensure traceability of test plans to requirements
    • Develop, automate, and execute unit testing strategy for C++ platform infrastructure software, and board support packages, ensuring requirements and software coverage
    • Ensure requirements and test cases traceability
    • Ensure team adherence to software engineering best practices and process, and on time planning and completion of design reviews
    • Be accountable for the technical quality of work produced by the team, schedule, and budget.
    • Communicate status on software development and integration to engineering leadership

    Embedded systems development in similar industry Automotive, Medical Device, Aerospace, Locomotive

    Previous development of Device Drivers/Control Systems/Control software

    Matlab/Simulink
    Bachelor's Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering, or similar discipline

    7-10 years in Software Engineering/Development

    3+ years experience in a managerial/people management role leading development team

    Deep understanding and experience with C/C++ software development

    Strong knowledge and experience with Embedded systems development

    Strong skills and understanding of Linux OS

    Experience with Unit testing and validation

    Demonstrated knowledge of the full Software Development Lifecycle

    Understanding of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
