    Motor Vehicle Mechanic - Niagara ARB - Niagara Falls, NY
    SUMMARY:
    Repairs, rebuilds, or major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or Material Handling Equipment and their hydraulic systems. Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent.
    REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in diesel mechanics and related vehicle systems such as air conditioning, electrical and brakes
    • ASE Certification
    • Must be experienced in Refueling Pumping Systems Maintenance, and Fire Truck Pumping Systems Maintenance
    • Experience in MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    • Able to work weekends on a rotating schedule
    • Experience using the latest diagnostic equipment (Scan Tool, etc.)
    • Experience using Tire removal/installation equipment and tire balancing equipment
    • Must provide own General Mechanic tool set

    This position is responsible for repairs, rebuilds, and/or overhauls of major assemblies of internal combustion engines in automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Diagnoses source of problems and determines the extent of repairs required.
    • Replaces worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts.
    • Grinds and adjusts valves; rebuilds carburetors; overhauls transmissions; and repairs fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems
    • Maintains tools and equipment and cleans work areas.
    • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum requirements for this position include a High School Diploma or equivalent GED plus a minimum of three (3) years general vehicle maintenance experience. ASE Certification, a valid New York CDL A or B Driver's License and ability to maintain military gate pass access are required.

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
    Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, managers and staff members. Ability to write reports. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, fellow employees and customers.
    REASONING ABILITY:

    Must be able to read and interpret various information to ensure procedures are followed.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally be required to lift more than 75 pounds. The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.
    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Work environment will require on-call rotation. The employee may be exposed to noise, dirt, dust, grease, machinery with moving parts, irritating chemicals, and occasional cold, heat, and inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices, such as masks, goggles, and/or gloves.
    A background check and drug screen will be conducted for this position.
