    A Day in the Life of a Biomedical Equipment Technician I:
    The Biomedical Equipment Technician I (BMET-I) maintains hospital and patient care medical equipment using a Medical Equipment Management Plan. This entry level position performs a variety of installation, maintenance, calibration and repair tasks within a limited scope.

    Here Is What You Will Be Doing:

    • Diagnoses and corrects equipment malfunctions making adjustments and replacing faulty parts as needed.

    • Performs preventive and scheduled maintenance of medical devices and related systems in accordance with department, manufacturer, and regulatory standards.

    • Performs safety testing on medical equipment and patient care devices.

    • Calibrates and troubleshoots electronic devices.

    • Identifies and escalates issues not within scope of a BMET-I.

    • Maintains documentation of all service events, performance tests and corrective maintenance actions.

    • Repairs miscellaneous equipment if within scope and as requested,

    • Performs on-call coverage as required by department needs.

    Desired Skills:

    • Basic knowledge of general and specialized tools, test equipment and service manuals

    • Ability to troubleshoot medical equipment using a variety of instructional sources

    • Basic math, computer, and business software skills

    • Basic knowledge of anatomy, physics, and medical terminology

    • Ability to perform general electromechanical troubleshooting

    • Basic knowledge of medical devices and their purpose

    • Ability to understand operational and environmental needs of supported locations

    • Basic knowledge of regulatory agencies and their interaction with Cheyenne Regional

    • Professional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

    Here Is What You Will Need:

    • Associate's degree or higher in electronics or medical device maintenance
    o OR, Certificate of Biomedical training issued by Department of Defense (or coordinating service branch)
    o OR, Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) healthcare and/or medical related certification

    Nice to Have:

    • AAMI Biomedical Technology Certified Associate

    • Healthcare Internship

    • Experience in a hospital or clinical environment

    • Experience and/or education in computer networks
