    Alabama State University, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer.

    The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting the Director of Sports Medicine in the areas of practice and game coverage, assisting in the daily operations of the athletic training room, and providing multifaceted healthcare for all sports programs at Alabama State university.


    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Assist with the prevention, assessment, care, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries to student-athletes in all sports programs
    • Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries
    • Assist coaching staff in evaluating, and implementing sport specific conditioning programs and methods
    • Assist in the selection of fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads or braces
    • Assist with the maintenance of athletic training equipment and monitor inventory
    • Assist with maintenance of complete, accurate, and detailed medical records for all student athletes
    • Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks
    • Remain current with all national and state certifications and licensure and follow the NATA code of ethics, including annual CEU opportunities
    • Perform other duties as assigned
    Minimum Qualifications


    Bachelor's degree and NATABOC Athletic Trainer certification, licensed to practice in the state of Alabama or eligible, current certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED, have working knowledge of NCAA and SWAC rules and regulations, and be available to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
