    About the Job

    The lab technician performs laboratory tests by performing the following duties to determine chemical or physical characteristics or composition of solid, liquid, or gaseous materials for purposes such as quality control, process control, or process development.

    Essential Job Duties
    • Sets up, adjusts, and operates laboratory equipment and instruments such as microscopes, centrifuges, agitators, viscometers, chemical balance scales, spectrophotometers, pH meters, and other equipment.
    • Daily tests solutions used in plating processes for chemical concentration, specific gravity, or other characteristics.
    • Test samples of finished or manufactured products to verify conformity to specifications.
    • Records test results in computer systems and/or on standardized forms and writes test reports describing procedures used and results.
    • Prepares graphs and charts.
    • Cleans and maintains laboratory equipment and work area.
    • Calibrates laboratory instruments.
    • Prepares chemical solutions according to standard formulas
    • Use of statistical data control required for monitoring and improving chemical processes
    • Adds chemicals or raw materials to process solutions to correct or establish formulation requirements to meet specifications.
    • Maintain chemical inventory continually.
    • Performs other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as needed.
    Educational and Work Experience Requirements

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
    • Two (2) years of lab experience, with one year in the plating industry.
    Essential Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
    • Ability to alternate standing and sitting for 8 hours.
    • Ability to see or correct to 20/20.
    • Ability to hear.
    • Ability to distinguish color (pass a colorblind test).
    • Ability to communicate in both verbal and written forms.
    • Ability to stoop and bend.
    • Ability to use arms and hands.
