    SUMMARY:


    We're seeking an experienced, self-motivated Electromechanical Engineer, with an understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts, to join our team in Savage, MN.

    This key role will work with the Mechanical components involved in designing, modifying, troubleshooting and customizing a line of band saw equipment.

    In addition, the mechanical engineer will collaborate with customers, plant personnel, sales and management to achieve the successful completion of projects and equipment improvements.

    This role, although Mechanical Design in nature also requires a strong electrical engineering background and aptitude.

    This will include augmentation of core products and development of new systems and processes to adhere to proper electrical coding.

    Beyond product development, the engineer continually works with peer engineers, sales, shop floor staff and customers to troubleshoot problems, assess situations, and fix issues related to machinery.

    This can include working on the shop floor and working directly with customers.


    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    ·

    Use mechanical engineering skills to design, develop, and enhance consumer products, manufacturing processes and equipment.
    ·

    Work with the team of engineers, sales staff and shop floor personnel to deliver customer and product based solutions.
    ·


    Perform basic conceptual design to support the activities leading to the creation of new or improvements to existing products or product applications.

    ·

    Assist the sales team and senior management by generating equipment quotations and technical information.
    ·


    Prepare basic design, analysis, test requirements, performance, schedule, and cost information as required in assigned area of responsibility for existing or new products.

    ·

    Optimize component/product designs for performance, cost, standardization, and manufacturability.
    ·

    Work "hands-on" with manufacturing to resolve any problems encountered in the fabrication and construction of experimental or production machines.
    ·


    Identify opportunities to eliminate expenses that do not add value to the process or product, and within the scope of authority of the position, implement the reduction.

    ·

    Develop cost saving solutions for consumer products and manufacturing processes.
    ·

    Assist in the development of production procedures and standards for new products.
    ·

    Work with SolidWorks software to design and modify products.
    ·

    Assist in production line assembly or set up.
    ·

    Train maintenance and production personnel on new equipment.
    ·

    Provide supervision for equipment and facility installations.
    ·

    Work with motor control circuits (PLCs) to create customized industrial control panels.
    ·

    Work under UL Panel standards and specifications.
    ·

    Use Access Database for tracking of parts and customer inventory.
    ·

    Augment products to fit customer specifications.
    ·

    Deliver layout of machine schematics to demonstrate drives, parts and machine specifications
    ·

    Troubleshoot problems related to customer inquiries and specialized products.
    ·


    Become the subject matter expert on a core of products with ability to add new ideas and designs for improved customization.

    ·

    Key responsibilities include structural, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, engine integration and/or control system design projects.
    ·


    Be willing to wear multiple hats to assist customers, peers and shop floor employees to deliver the highest service levels possible.

    ·

    Be able to create new design providing benefits and/or solving problems
    ·

    Identify and select relevant raw materials, components (sensors, actuators, motors,...), manufacturing/assembly processes and suppliers necessary for the realization of prototypes and products
    ·

    Follow-up, check and challenge suppliers' progress
    ·

    Assemble and test controller prototypes and perform modifications
    ·

    Performance maintenance on some equipment
    ·

    Responsible for preparation of technical documentation of products and of the systems (mechanical and electrical drawings, technical specifications, FAT/IQ/OQ)
    ·

    Assist in performing functional and performance tests on prototypes with our internal application specialist department
    ·

    Listen, understand, translate internal and external customers' requirements
    ·

    Write procedures, documentation and reports related to tests and tasks performed
    ·

    Serve as an expert on your field/products and challenge the technical concepts of your colleagues


    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
    1-5 years of mechanical engineering experience and working with customers related to engineering projects.
    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) OR several years of experience creating and maintaining electrical and mechanical designs in Solidworks (or comparable software) preferred
    Requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret business information, journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
    Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as analytical problem solving capabilities.
    Strong project management skills.
    Excellent interpersonal and partnership building skills.
    Strong computer proficiency to include Microsoft Office and Solid Works
    Education or experience working with PLC, UL Panel standards, and motor control circuits preferred
