- Examines heartbeat patterns on electrocardiograph monitors.
- Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in heartbeat.
- Ensures that monitors are functioning properly.
- Coordinates admissions, transfers from the ED.
- Answers telephone and maintains records for the department.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
- Requires a High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree preferred and at least 1 year of experience in the field.
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
- Requires a current American Heart Association-BLS certification prior to hire.
